ServiceAdvice and implementation on a non-discretionary basis: we assess your needs, recommend a portfolio, arrange it on a regulated platform once you approve, and review it with you. You make every decision.
PortfoliosA rand-based portfolio on a South African platform, and a global hard-currency portfolio held offshore. The split between the two is agreed with you.
Where assets are heldRand-based portfolios are held on a regulated South African investment platform. International portfolios are held with an appropriately regulated third-party custodian. In both cases, the account is in the client's name and the provider is disclosed before implementation.
Externalising fundsWe can assist you to move funds offshore within your annual allowances.
SolutionsFunds, ETFs, segregated portfolios and alternatives, within the product categories on our FSCA licence.
FeesAdvice fees on an ongoing basis, agreed in writing, plus platform and fund costs disclosed in full. Any fee or benefit we receive from a product provider is disclosed to you in writing before you invest. See Fees.
RisksThe value of investments can fall as well as rise, and you may get back less than you invested. Past performance is not a guide to future returns. Offshore and hard-currency holdings move with exchange rates, in both directions. Alternatives can be complex and harder to sell quickly. Because you make each decision, the outcome also depends on whether and when you act on our recommendations.

The six steps, in order

Every South African client is taken through the same six-step financial planning process, as our FSCA licence requires.

  1. Establish the client relationship. A first conversation to explain how we work and what we charge, and to agree the scope of the engagement in writing.
  2. Gather information and identify goals. What you have, what you owe, and what the money is for, together with your time horizon and attitude to risk.
  3. Analyse your financial position. A financial needs analysis that sets your position against your goals and identifies gaps, concentrations, costs and risks.
  4. Develop and present recommendations. A written proposal and record of advice covering both portfolios, every layer of cost, and where each will sit: the South African platform and the offshore custodian.
  5. Implement the agreed plan. We execute the agreed proposal.
  6. Monitor and review. Quarterly reporting, and an annual review that revisits the plan, not just the portfolio.

Questions we are asked

Frequently asked

Is Intrasia Wealth regulated in South Africa?
Yes. Intrasia Wealth Limited is an authorised Financial Services Provider under the FAIS Act, FSP number 54955, regulated by the Financial Sector Conduct Authority. You can verify this on the FSCA's register of regulated entities.
Can you help me invest offshore?
Yes. We build rand-based portfolios on a South African platform and global hard-currency portfolios held offshore, both in your own name. We can assist you to externalise funds within your annual allowances.
How do rand and hard-currency portfolios fit together?
The rand portfolio covers South African needs: retirement savings, local spending and rand liabilities, with global exposure through rand-denominated global funds where useful. The hard-currency portfolio holds global assets directly, outside the rand. Most clients hold both, in a split agreed with you.
Where exactly is my money held?
Rand-based portfolios are held on a regulated South African investment platform. International portfolios are held with an appropriately regulated third-party custodian. In both cases, the account is in the client's name and the provider is disclosed before implementation.
Which solutions do you offer?
Funds, ETFs, segregated portfolios and alternatives, within the product categories on our FSCA licence.
What recourse do I have if something goes wrong?
First, our written complaints process, which is free; see how to complain. If we cannot resolve your complaint, you may refer it to the FAIS Ombud, which is also free to the complainant.
What if I leave South Africa?
Ceasing South African tax residence has tax consequences that need specialist advice before anything moves. If you do emigrate, our Mauritius service can advise you as a non-resident of South Africa under a separate engagement.
